Wilkes can't support the restaurants we have. That is why the food and service has gotten so bad, they are all trying to save money by using low quality supplies and low income help.

It is not more restaurants we need, it is less restaurant with better food that we need. A local high end restaurant tried to hire a friend of mine who is a experienced degreed chef for less then $8.00 an hour. They weren't looking for a chef, they just wanted a body.

I agree Tapout. I prefer supporting locally owned businesses over the chains anyway. But every couple of weeks, GW has a thread saying we need more chain restaurants!

i love starbucks, but i would prefer talia's any day. coffee tastes just as good, similar pricing, and i can support a local business, instead of the millionaires in seattle. i only wish they were open later. it would be a great place to hang out in the evening.

Now for this Hooters idea. What do you want a restaurant or a t*tie bar? The last thing Wilkes needs is a t*tie bar. Besides, if you live in Wilkes and you have to go some place and pay to see t*ties, you are a loser.

I mean, look at the posters on here. Wilkes is just full of idiots. Wilkes has to many restaurants and Dollar Stores as it is. As far as a $6,00 menu restaurant, that is all the people of Wilkes can afford. There are literally hundred of meals a restaurant can prepare for $6.00 and still make a very good profit. But, like I said, Wilkes is just full of idiots.

The jest of what every one is saying and in most likely true is DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT OPENNING A BUSINESS IN WILKES. Wilkes is dying. Heel, America is dying. Right now, Wilkes is financed by social security, welfare and illegal drugs and the GOP is doing everything they can to cut all those forms of income but illegal drugs. The best advice I can give you is, if you don't have a fixed income, move out of Wilkes.

The concept of a wilkes hooters is amusing. The application process would be simple. 1. How many teeth do you expose in a full grin? 2. How many times have you won "Bare as you dare" at the Circle C? 3. What methadone clinic do you see yourself at in 5 years?

hooters would probably thrive in wilkes lets be honest. but probably don't have the workforce and skills to support it. plenty of beer money could go into pockets there

I agree that more options are always nice but not more corporate diarrhea food service products that you undoubtedly will get at any chain restaurant. Peanut shells on the floor, loud country music, and a hot waitress may make you think your food tastes better, but it still most likely came from a can or a frozen plastic bag.
