If they did not eat at home, they will eat at school. The county just won't be funding it. The government will provide for the free and reduced kids and parents will pay for the ones who don't qualify. They will eat just like they do every day. If any kid does not eat before the EOGs, it will be because they refused to.

I'm with you. Kids who cannot afford the breakfast get breakfast everyday. Those who can afford breakfast can purchace it and folks can always feed them at home. Why would this day be any different? Kids need a good breakfast EVERY day!

memy is correct....but poor parenting skills do not always mean the kids will eat, even if they can afford it....yet again another example of the schools being blamed for poor parents....but school lawyers and supers fear the poor parents and usually buckle

I'm going to start something with this remark, I'm sure, but here goes anyway.

Why should the schools have to provide breakfast for the kids? If you can afford it then its not a problem. If you can't then there is such thing as free and reduced meals at the school. Chances are the ones who can't afford the food are already on this program and therefore will be getting breakfast anyway.

darkangel you are right about seeing that children have food but it does cost tax dollars to do so.

Agreed, halfsun. There are many children who aren't fed like they should be at home. My youngest sister works in the school system in another county and one of my sisters-in-law works for Head Start. Both have said that they have kids who they send food home with at the end of the week because they have a very strong suspicion that those kids won't have another mean until they get back to school on Monday. That's VERY sad. There may be some on here who disagree and feel that they shouldn't have to provide food to children with their tax dollars, but I would rather know that my taxes are going for something like this than in the pockes of politicians.

I always remember being kind of excited about that breakfast because it was something out of the ordinary. It always made the test days feel special and made it a little easier. Dr Laws is awful.

Just found out Dr. Laws is not alowing free breakfast for the kids this year before the EOG's. I can't believe this.... Food for the kids is a must before taking the stressful test. Breakfast is something that has been provided since the EOG's have been taken. This man is unbelievable, I wish they would move him instead moving all the principals every year. This man needs to go. I can provide breakfast for my child but many kids out there will not have the opportunity to have breakfast and studies have shown kids do much better with having a good breakfast in the morning.
