Don't want none of Them driving on my road, but I doubt if they've ever been to the country.

When it snows or freezing rain Finley Ave is the Road to use to reach town. 2nd St hill is not the way to go. Is this the only time that it is legal to drive on Finley Ave?

If you can't safely stop maybe you should slow down. If the roads are slick maybe you should take another route. The safety of the citizens who reside there take precedence over your desire to shave a few seconds off of your commute.

these remarks so horrible, the stop signs I am speaking of are the one that no one uses the little street anyway---What in the world was that even put up for? If it is slick, there is no way that anyone could stop at some of these signs

Repub-sheetz | Posted 5:32 am, 09/17/2014 | Most of the residents in this area are rich and elderly and it takes them a long time to go across the street. Of course there is nothing across the street to cross for. Originally the great minds felt like they could direct traffic through North Wilkesboro and as they sit at stop lights downtown they could window shop and increase business. One business model they omitted was "you cannot force customers anywhere but somewhere else" You must entice, draw, pull, and attract customers and making them mad does not do this. Either offer a better deal or move closer to where someone else is offering the best deal and wish for their overflow traffic to spill into your stores. Business has moved but these businesses have not. |
The area that posters are raising so much heal about is not actually in Finley Park. You folks have your heads stuck so far up your aises that you can't see anything.

Shouldn't the people who live in these areas have the right to decide about these matters? I believe that by virtue of their status as homeowners, tax payers, voters and citizens of the Town of North Wilkesboro they should have the final say about whether there are stop signs at these intersections. If you don't live there and are only passing through you should shut up and mind your own business. If you do live along these streets and avenues and dont like the stop signs, speed limits, etc then show up at the next Commissioner's Board meeting and speak your mind. Elected Town leaders have made the decisions concerning these traffic issues based on requests and safety concerns of the people who live in these neighborhoods, and rightfully so.

It is absurd how long it takes to get from one end of North Wilkesboro to the other end of Wilkesboro. I mean, dang, we don't live in freakin' New York City!!!! All these stop signs and stop lights.

Well, since I have the attention of a couple of lawyers let me ask, "What part of the fine for running a 'Stop sign' is supposed to go to the schools?" The $100 or so fine or the $160 or so balance that is called the "court costs"? I do very much agree that the law is enforced where the most complaining is done. I believe you will agree that if 2nd street is the best way to get from 18N to 421 Business that no matter what else happened the person using that route would always be in the lead at the hospital by several car lengths, all laws observed.

Just shop in Elkin/Jonesville and be done with it. It doesn't take that much more time to get there.

You ride a MOPED and dare make fun of cheap cars, 63? Just for that, I'm ah gonna call both my friends, and their friends, and we gonna have a ride-thru, horn-blowing good time driving on Finley Avenue. We may even have a sidewalk sale. Then after we drive thru, we are gonna turn around and drive right back thru. Several times, as a matter of fact.!
