I'm guessing that you're asking about why some of your posts have been removed in the past?

The rules were created several years ago by the regular users:

Freedom of Speech is one of the many things that make the United States one of the greatest nations in the world, and it's one reason why GoWilkes is anonymous: so you can utilize your freedom of speech without worrying about real-life repercussions.

But this is also a business, so when people take advantage of that freedom in ways that I think are going to hurt the site, I have to intervene. Examples include racial slurs, repeated attacks against other users, and using terms that aren't really vulgar but really have no purpose other than to try to attack others (eg, the recent thread regarding "libtard" and "conservatard").

I do my absolute best to moderate as little as possible, but sometimes I feel like I don't have much of a choice.

How about Freedom of Speech (as long as it is not vulgar)?

Marie, I believe this is the thread to which you are referring:

Personally, I'm sick to death of moderating political threads! A discussion of current events is great, but most of them are just so angry and negative, with both sides so full of hatred! Just reading them puts me in a bad mood, so I procrastinate on them for as long as I can

Shagbag, I honestly believe that the solution to that is to post more local things, knowing that other lurkers will eventually come out of the woodwork and reply. But if no one posts them, then no one has the opportunity to reply.

And sadly, I've learned over the years that the wide majority of people are waiting for others to post first. They'll happily reply, but they just don't want to be the one to start a thread.

So just post something, and if a "keyboard bully" replies then (a) ignore his comment, and (b) report it so that I can remove it. If you don't ignore him then it's what is called "feeding the troll", and it encourages more fighting. But if you do ignore him and let me delete his post(s) then eventually he'll have no choice but to fall in line.

I use to post regularly and sometimes I would try to start topics that were about local topics but it would get pushed off the first page in no time with political junk. Even when someone tries to start a topic that is not confrontational "ie political" the keyboard bullies come out of the woodwork to hijack the thread and drive it off track. The sad truth is Community Voice and the average Wilkes citizen no longer have anything in common. A handful of people ran everyone off when it comes to posting threads. CV is no longer about Wilkes and that is what made CV worth being on back in the day.

The only reason I logged on this time was to see if anything was posted about a WJP story and I ran across this thread.

I doubt so backwater.. Just thinking back to near end of 2017 Jason posted wishing everyone a Merry Christmas or whatever he stated.. Yet he was looking forward to this year & hoping it would not be so political and such. Guess what happened?? I'm sure he could present his post for all too see...

Could this topic just be an option to get more people posting?

No matter what topic of thread you post, in 5-6 posts it will be diverted into something political?? Is that right or wrong?? sparkling started a "Nice Thread" if i remember correctly it became political after 6-7 posts??

It seems to me like there is a whole lot of one sided groups here. No one is open to a discussion, just what they believe, and your a retard if you don't believe the same as them.

I come on here a read a lot about what people thinks. I try to see some of there points. But if you question there ideology on some things your just ignorant.

Prime example ( we should tax the rich ) No one on here could tell me what a rich person is.

Every one has there own beliefs but it seams like there is a large group of posters on GW that believe one thing. And the majority of the world dose not believe that way. Which is fine this is free speech.

The CV is just fine. If folk want to see different content, they should post it.

Yes, and the snarky comments will happen. A few posters can't let a thread go without marking their territory. They eventually move on if you don't feed them.

The fifties were pretty much old school. Call someone a disrespectful name, you better get ready to eat your teeth. Along came the sixties!! Talk about change, let's all sing , dance and protest . Didn't matter what, protest. Respect for authority and most everything else became a thing of the past. The generation that followed were not taught anything about respect and therefore became rude and sort of mean mouthed. This generation is much of the same. My point is ; this is the world we live in now so get with it. Change is inevitable and who knows what time will bring? Name calling could disappear and folks could go back to tipping their hats and bowing at the waist in a generation or two.

Oh my gawd, I can't believe this...I just can't!!!

Sparky, I truly agree with you, the CV is just fine!!!

The allusive improvements are to encourage the lurkers to participate and not to discourage the thick skinned regulars.

I agree goddess !! Guess I'll be accused of all sorts of things for agreeing with you , so don't you dare agree with me !

People who don't like politics can skip on down the road and start all the threads they wish , and read any threads they wish.

I understood the said looney test was to be determined by the individual and not CV as a whole and to be sound advice.
