I try to be very selective about which posts are copied where. It's all done manually by me, based mainly on whether the topic has specific regional interest. Although I might copy "fun" threads that are fairly active, too.
Quack, if you post on another site, then it would only show on GoWilkes if I manually copy it here. I might do that if I thought that it might be of specific interest to Wilkes, but it wouldn't be automatic.
Elmo, you mentioned the Classifieds being shared. That's not actually right; when you post an ad, you have an option of whether to copy it to other counties, so that falls entirely on the poster, not us. I had considered giving the author of a thread the option to choose whether to copy it to other counties, but then I realized that the people most likely to take advantage of it would be the trolls.

If we post on another website will it also show up on GoWilkes?

One thing is for certain. On GoWilkes, there's never a problem "getting something started"!

You need to do a few not all of the political postings. Just a few of them to the other sites. Some Funny posting too.

You guys are about half right
This was actually discussed over a year ago. One issue I've had on some of the other county sites is a lot of traffic, but little or no discussion. People were using the classifieds, but they'd look at the Community Voice, see that the last post was days (or weeks) ago, and not contribute.
So, when there's a topic of regional, state, or national interest that I think may interest other users, I may copy it to another county so that others can reply, too. For example, a thread on GoWilkes about something in Elkin may be copied to GoSurry, a thread about Virginia Foxx may be copied to the entire 5th district (excluding Ashe), and so on.
And it does seem to work. Taking GoAlleghany, for example, there have been 188,079 pageviews and 187 posts in the last month. Compare that to the same period last year, when there were 121,745 pageviews but only 3 new posts. So as you can see, it's not an issue of the sites being slow, it's an issue of people not wanting to be the first to get something started.
FWIW, I think that this may have originally been Quack's idea. I could be wrong, though, as I didn't verify it, but I think she mentioned it in passing one day and I ran with it.

Some of the topics and posts on on GW were transferred to other counties to generate interest, hope it works.

Some of us were attempting to help gowilkes get sites going in other counties.

New posters in my opinion will tend to shy away from posting because each time they open a page on another county the first thing they see is the same person and the same threads from this person day in and day out from gowilkes. A good example was the Alleghany site had a hot sheriff race. The site lit up but each time you opened the site the threads pertaining to Alleghany were buried under the above mentioned.

When I check out the other sites I never think to look at the Classified. A Posting Thread to remind people to check it out would be good.

He should post the Thread of Classified to let people know about the Classified thread.

Why do the other go sites have the exact same topics listed? If traffic is that slow why keep them up? Just wondering......
