Numbers can be manipulated to produce any desired result.

I stumbled across the study from 1903 by accident, and thought that the analogy to modern discrimination claims was pretty amazing! I guess that any demographic can find "proof" of discrimination if they try.

Honestly, I think the lefties came by the discrimination righteously, what with all those bumping elbows at the dinner table.

Rightly so! No disrespect to the lefties!

Did you know that about 30% of all convicted criminals are left handed?

And worldwide, the "frequency of left-handers and homicide rate are significantly and positively correlated."

This bias dates back to at least 1903:

In 1903, Lombroso [summarized] ( http://www.jstor.org/stable/25119452) his views on the left-handed of the world. "What is sure," he wrote, "is, that criminals are more often left-handed than honest men, and lunatics are more sensitively left-sided than either of the other two." Left-handers were more than three times as common in criminal populations as they were in everyday life, he found. The prevalence among swindlers was even higher: up to thirty-three per cent were left-handedin contrast to the four per cent Lombroso found within the normal population.

Yet only about 10% of the population is left handed:

The obvious conclusion is that the police and judicial system unfairly and intentionally target left handed people based on a preconceived and long-term belief that left handed people are more violent, and "more vulnerable to mental diseases like schizophrenia."

There is just no other explanation.
