HB2's economic impact hits Charlotte hard, leaders say

Mecklenburg County suffered a total of $285 million in missed economic impact and around 1,000 jobs as a result of House Bill 2, the Charlotte Chamber estimates.The numbers were released Tuesday, after the Charlotte Council voted 7-4 against a motion to discuss the topic in a meeting.




HB2 overturned Charlotte's local non-discrimination ordinance expanding LGBT protections, which included allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice.
