I do worry about, even the euthanasia shoot, but like Daddy P said, it is so quick that....bless their hearts....the eyes are still left open. I know no other way to end suffering that quickly....I have not the heart to put a bullet in a wounded dog.

Foggy I promise you gassing is not more humane. Watch this documentary and you will see. http://www.hbo.com/document...d-betrayal
****** Warning this documentary is brutal. Don't read this if you are faint of heart. Parts of it are heartwarming, but the part where they put the dogs in bins and gas them are absolutely horrible. You can hear the dogs screaming and wailing (they were just barking when first put in the bin, but started wailing after gas is started) until they finally die. Then more dogs are thrown in on top of those dogs to start the process again. I don't know if that is how they did it at our shelter, but this documentary makes it clear that the gassing is painful. I have had to have a few pets put to sleep and they went out quietly and what seemed peacefully. Much more so than what I heard in the HBO doc.

Poor animals. Keep in mind, most of our pets are food items in other countries. Still, gas would seem more humane to me.

What happens to the theory once there's no more money to throw at it?

You gotta start with a good theory.
After that, just keep throwing money at it.
Finally, blame competing theories.

Please, inform me. I WANT to be on the side of all no-kill shelters, but not all are as well-run as you might want to believe.

No kill shelters are great in theory, but sometimes it's more humane to euthanize the animal as opposed to having it spend weeks, months and years in a cage, waiting for a home.

Read in the winston paper this morning that the state has said that gas can no longer be used to euthanize animals. Does anyone know if our shelter still is using gas to do this?
