What was the name of the toy store? I don't think it stuck around a long time.

Good ol' days of the mall. Brendle's, Sound Connection, Rated Rookie, Corn Dog7, Yesterday's. This is the happiest GoWilkes post in ages. Made me smile.

In my memory. How about the pool hall where the twin theaters are now?

YES!

Thank you for considering it, antithesis! I'd love, love, love some pics of the mall and sky city. I'm too young for Ray's King Burger, but I did hear about it.
I know, pictures of this time period of stuff like this is rare. Everyone wasn't walking around with a camera and a computer in their pocket!
Anything from the 80s or 90s from those old places would be great. Thanks so much.

Hold on, I have a bunch of pictures from the Wilkes Mall around here somewhere! And some really old ones from Ray's King and Sky City.

They're hard to find because pictures were so much more expensive back then! We were always buying packs of film that had 16 exposures on it, but then never paid to have them developed

Hello, all! I grew up in Wilkes in the 80s and 90s, and as we know, most of the places we went to are long gone or changed. I'm very interested in any pics anyone has of locations such as:

Wilkes Mall
Roses (either location)
Sky City
old library
old KMart
the first Walmart or any pics of the stretch down through there

I'd love exterior or interior pics. I would especially love pics of the interior of the mall. Remember Rudolph and the ramp that led to Roses?! I'm not looking for people so if you want to blur faces, that is totally fine. I would just LOVE some pics of these places that were around in the late 80s and 90s. I'd REALLY appreciate it. Please consider posting them because I can't find them ANYWHERE.

Thanks!
