antithesis (view profile) | Posted 9:08 pm, 02/27/2017 | Kind of pointless in a liberal/left/loser kind of way, ain't it, when you are outnumbered 2.5 to 1 by Republicans and Unaffiliated voters. It's kind of silly to assume that unaffiliated voters lean Republican, though, isn't it?
This is how it breaks down in Wilkes:
Democrat: 10,325 Republican: 22,256 Libertarian: 125 Unaffiliated: 10,538
https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegSta...F31%2F2016
Republicans outnumber Democrats a little over 2 to 1. But if those unaffiliated people can be swayed to lean Democrat, the numbers would be almost even. |
Thanks for posting those numbers. It's neat to see the breakdown. The link even goes so far as the breakdown by race and sex.
I would be curious to know the number of people registered who actually vote too. Just because the Republicans outnumber the Democrats doesn't mean they all come out to vote. I feel like that would be a better comparison between the two parties.

How stupid of you to bash the Libertarians and then condescend and denigrate the Unaffiliated.
Whaaa??? How did I "bash the Libertarians" and "condescend and denigrate the Unaffiliated?"

Will you be going door to door to convince us folks of the error of our ways?
Good luck with that!

Absolutely right, Conrad! Although I think that Libertarians should be easier to convince to vote Republican, since that's a far right ideology.
My point, though, is that it's not a hopeless cause. No one knows which way those unaffiliated voters are leaning. Most of them probably have no idea what's going on politically, so they're just waiting for someone to talk to them.

We sure do appreciate your sharing the mathematical evidence necessary to carry on the conversation.
If we now apply some simple arithmetic for comparative analysis it is possible to determine that IF every Unaffiliated voter was persuaded to vote democrat and added their votes to the democrats you would still be losers.
Lets consider another possibility.
IF all the Libertarians were to vote democrat and all the Unaffiliated were to vote republican you would still be losers.
