In addition to the regular Spay Neuter Assistance Program every Tuesday starting November 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th the Humane Society of Wilkes (HSoW) will be sponsoring a $5 (Five Dollar) CAT SPECIAL. Sign up is from 6PM to 7PM only.
The $5 cost to spay/neuter cats will be only availble to person(s) making $15,000 or less per year. If you make between $15,000 and $35,000 the cost will be $25 per cat. If you make over $35,000 per year we can give you a voucher that will reduce the cost of spay/neuter by $25. PLEASE EVERYONE bring some type of PROOF OF INCOME (Pay stub, bank statement, last years taxes, etc.) If you are on public assistance a FOOD STAMP CARD or MEDICAID CARD is acceptable and will qualify you for the $5 special. And be prepared to pay full amount upon sign up (cash or checks only, NO credit/debit cards).
We will still be doing the regular SNAP sign-ups for dogs, but the same prices apply that are in place all year long.
Also be aware that if your cat or dog is NOT current on rabies vaccination as required by law there will be and additional charge of $7 for this vaccination. So IF your income qualifies you for the "cat special" and it needs a rabies vaccination your total cost per cat will be $12 (a savings of about $125 from standard vet cost).
We are going to try and have extra volunteers on hand in order to get everyone signed up, but the library now closes at 7PM so we don't have the extra hour that we did last year, so be patient and we will get everyone signed up that needs it even if you do have to come back the next Tuesday.
