Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) is sponsored by the Humane Society of Wilkes in order to assist low income pet owners (earning under $35,000 annually) to get their pets spayed or neutered at a significantly lower cost.
Please be sure and bring some type of PROOF OF INCOME: Last year taxes; bank statement, check stub showing YTD earnings; Social Security Letter, etc. If you receive FOOD STAMPS or MEDICAID you only need to bring your EBT or MEDICAID CARD, no other proof of income necessary.
Cost to Spay or Neuter a Dog or Cat:
For Pet Owners with annual income $15,000 or less - $25 For annual income between $15,000 and $35,000 - $35
You will need to pay above amount at time of sign up for program (Cash or Check only) and Humane Society of Wilkes pays the remaining amount directly to the vet.
You will then be issued a voucher which is good at all Wilkes County Vet Offices and one Vet located in Surry County, so you just call the vet of YOUR CHOICE and make an appointment for your pet to be spayed/neutered and take the voucher with you to your appointment.
We will give you a list of possible conditions that could result in additional costs at time of spay/neuter such as pet being in heat or pregnant.
6 pm to 7 pm (Library closes at 7)
