Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) is subsidized by the Human Society of Wilkes in order to help low income pet owners in Wilkes County to get their pets spayed or neutered at a considerably reduced cost.

Primary requirement: Pet owner have annual income below $35,000.

Because the program is income related, we ask EVERYONE that comes to sign up to bring some type of PROOF OF INCOME: Last year taxes; Bank Statement, Check Stub showing YTD earnings; W-2; etc. If you receive any public assistance such as FOOD STAMPS or MEDICAID you only have to bring your EBT or Medicaid Card and you are automatically qualified, not other proof of income necessary.

Cost of Spay/Neuter:

Annual Income of $15,000 or less - $25

Annual Income $15,000 to $35,000 - $35

You will need to pay the above amount at time of sign up (cash or check only). We then issue you a voucher which is accepted by ALL Wilkes County Vets and one in Surry County. Make an appointment with the vet of your choice and take the voucher with you to the appointment to pay for the surgery.
