Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) is funded by donations and grants to the ALL VOLUNTEER NON PROFIT Humane Society of Wilkes.
Sign ups at the Wilkes County Public Library EVERY TUESDAY evening from 6 pm to 7 pm. Please try to arrive no later than 645 pm since paperwork takes about 10 mins or so and the library closes at 7 pm.
This program is INCOME RELATED and only available to WILKES COUNTY RESIDENTS that have annual earnings under $35,000 (individual pet owners).
We require EVERY ONE to bring some type of PROOF OF INCOME: Last year taxes, W-2, Social Security Award Letter, Check Stub showing year to date (YTD) earnings, etc. etc. We try and be flexible and will accept just about anything you can bring with you. If you are a student and have no earnings just bring Student ID. If you receive any public assistance such as Food Stamps or Medicaid just bring your EBT card or Medicaid Card and NO further proof of income necessary.
COST OF SPAY/NEUTER either a DOG or CAT:
Annual earnings up to $15,000 - $25 Annual earnings from $15,000 to $35,000 - $35
You will have to pay the amount you qualify for at time of sign up (cash or check). We then issue you a voucher. This voucher is good at all 3 Wilkes County Vets, and 1 Vet in Surry County. You then call and make an appointment at the participating vet of your choice and take the voucher with you to the appointment.
NO LIMIT to the number of pets you can sign up to have fixed, but you will need to fill out one form for each pet and pay for each at time of sign up.
SNAP sign ups also done at the Humane Society of Wilkes building located in Cub Creek Park (down road from new courthouse) on MONDAY, WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY'S from 12 noon until 3 pm.
