NOTICE: SNAP cost will be going UP as of January 1st 2015. For example: Rabies vaccination is now $7 - as of 1/01/15 the cost will be $9. Spay/neuter prices have not yet been determined.
You can SAVE MONEY by getting your pet(s) spayed/neutered before the end of 2014. Sign up at the Ronda Town Hall is the FIRST and THIRD Wednesday of every month, so there are only 4 more chances to sign up in Ronda (sign ups at the Wilkes County Public Library are EVERY Tuesday).
SNAP is INCOME RELATED, so please bring some type of PROOF OF INCOME: Pay check stub, bank statement, last year taxes, social security letter, etc. We are very flexible and will accept just about anything that will allow us to determine your eligibility (annual income of $35,000 or less). If you are on PUBLIC ASSISTANCE just bring your FOOD STAMP (EBT) or MEDICAID CARD with you and that will automatically qualify you for the program. NOTE: If you earn OVER 35K annually see note below.
Until 12/31/14 both CATS and DOGS fixed for $25, a HUGE savings over standard vet cost. Since LAW REQUIRES ALL PETS TO HAVE CURRENT RABIES VACCINATION, if your pet is NOT up to date there will be an additional cost of $7, making the total $32 per pet. There is NO limit to the number of pets you can pay to have fixed. Be prepared to pay your total at time of sign up (cash or check only) to receive your voucher.
Then you contact a participating vet (list available) and make your dog or cat an appointment for the procedure. Be sure and take your voucher with you on the day of your appointment.
NOTE: If you earn OVER 35K annually as an incentive to help you get your pet(s) spayed/neutered we will issue you a voucher good for from $15 (cat) to $30 (dogs) OFF the cost at local participating vet offices (like a coupon). Not necessary to bring any proof of income in order to receive one of these vouchers, just come in during normal sign up days and time.
The Humane Society of Wilkes is a non profit ALL VOLUNTEER organization, and ALL our programs such as SNAP are supported by yearly membership dues ($15) and donations made by residents of Wilkes County.
