Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP)

Public Event · by redyugobandit

Wednesday, Apr. 16, 2014

Come out and sign up for financial assistance in getting your pet(s) spay or neutered. Help reduce the over population of unwanted dogs and cats in Wilkes County. Getting your pet spayed/neutered also helps them to live a longer, healthier life. With females, no more dealing with them being "in heat". In males, helps reduce wandering and spraying.

This program is INCOME RELATED, so please bring some type of PROOF OF INCOME: Pay Check Stub, Bank Statement, Last Year Taxes, etc. Anything that will allow us to determine that you earn less than $35,000 annually to qualify for the program. We do NOT keep anything, just take a quick look and give it back to you. If you receive PUBLIC ASSISTANCE, just bring your FOOD STAMP or MEDICAID CARD and that will automatically qualify you for assistance program

Currently while funds available both DOGS and CATS spayed/neutered for $25. Since LAW REQUIRES ALL PETS TO HAVE A CURRENT RABIES VACCINATION, if your pet is NOT up to date there will be an additional cost of $7 for this vaccination, making your total $32 per pet. You must be prepared to pay full amount upon sign up. Cash or Check only.

IF YOU EARN OVER 35K ANNUALLY: As an incentive to help get your pet spayed or neutered we can issue you a voucher good for between $15 (cats) to $30 (dogs) OFF the cost of the procedure at Wilkes County vet offices. Kind of like a coupon. Not necessary to provide proof of income to receive on of these vouchers.

There is currently only one vet in Elkin that participates in the Humane Society of Wilkes Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) and that is Animal Ark, so you can use a SNAP voucher there.
