Spay Neuter Assistance Program provides financial assistance in order to help low income person(s) to get their pets fixed, which is VERY IMPORTANT in helping reduce over population of unwanted pets in Wilkes County.

Program is INCOME RELATED, so please bring some type of PROOF OF INCOME with you: Pay Check Stub; Bank Statement; Last Year Tax Return; Social Security Letter, etc. Anything that will allow us to determine your annual income. We do NOT keep anything, just take a quick look Currently, anyone that earns $35,000 or less annually qualifies (If you earn over the limit see note below), however, If you receive PUBLIC ASSISTANCE just bring your FOOD STAMP or MEDICAID CARD, and that will automatically qualify you for the program.

Cost for Spay or Neuter - both dogs and cats is $25. Law requires all pets to have a current rabies vaccination, so if your pet is not up to date there will be an additional cost of $7 for vaccination, making the total $32 per pet. No limit to the number of pets you can sign up to have fixed. Be prepared to pay your total amount at time of sign up (cash or check only). You will then receive a voucher to take to a participating vet after making an appointment.

NOTE: If you earn over the income limit of 35K annually as a incentive to help get your pets spayed/neutered we can issue you a voucher good for from $15 (cats) to $30 (dogs) off the cost of surgery at all local vet offices, kind of like a coupon. Not necessary to bring proof of income to receive this voucher.
