Come enjoy a fun outdoor play! Show dates are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 25-27 and July 1-3, 9-11.
The outdoor drama Otto Wood: The Bandit tells the story of the life and times of Northwest North Carolina�s most prolific outlaw. Otto Wood was brought up hard in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and began his life of crime at an early age. As a boy, he stole away on a train to West Virginia to find his Hatfield kin, who in turn taught the youth the art of making moonshine, gambling and fighting. Constantly in trouble with the law, Wood escaped from numerous jails and prison in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. The famed their and bootlegger was killed in a gun battle with police on New Year�s Eve 1930. The show is directed by Heather Dean, a veteran of numerous stage productions. The script was written by Jerry Lankford, who is editor of The Record in North Wilkesboro, N.C. This outdoor drama also features live music before and throughout the show. There is also a filmed segment, offering a multi-media effect. The show was honored in 2012, 2013 and 2014 with multiple awards from the N.C. Society of Historians. Performers
