Artisan,teacher and weaver Mary Freas will host a workshop on weaving at Benton Hall Center for the Arts on Saturday February 22nd from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Registration is at 2:00 pm and there is no charge. The workshop is for ages 6 on.

Mrs. Freas will bring a variety of portable looms for demonstration and for the participants to use. These include rigid heddle looms, an inkle loom, a small 4-harness loom with treadles and a table loom. The rigid heddle loom and the inkle loom were designed and built by local craftsman John Rogers .

Mrs. Freas will explain about the different types of looms,demonstrate how to use them and help participants try them out. She will answer questions about yarn and weaving and will display items that can be created on a loom. This is the ideal introduction workshop to weaving for the beginner or anyone who wants to know more about weaving and looms.

Mrs Freas is a member of the Benton Hall Artisan Market which opens at Benton Hall every Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm featuring hand made,home made, home grown products by local and regional artisans and crafts people.

This workshop is sponsored by Benton Hall Center for the Arts Inc.
