The Small Business Center of Surry Community College will offer �Create a Business Website with WordPress� on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 6:00 until 9:00pm at the Elkin Center, located at 1461 North Bridge Street in Elkin. Social Media and SEO expert Martin Brossman of Brossman and Associates will be the presenter for this free seminar. Mr. Brossman is a leader in networking and small business training in North Carolina. He is a powerful trainer of small and micro-business owners and is masterful at helping people find their greatest strengths and develop businesses around them.

For under $100 a year you can have a professional website using the user-friendly web software of WordPress. WordPress is the leading open-source (free) content management platform that is both a website and blog. It enables you to insert the original content and make ongoing changes to the content on your own.

This class gives you the details for securing your domain name, choosing a graphics theme, and step-by-step guidance for building your site. Students have access to instructional videos to support and add to the class instruction. You will also receive a list of recommended themes, plug-ins and widgets that allow you to customize and enhance your website.

Attendees should have a working knowledge of the internet and a web-based email account before arrival. This will be used to set up domain names, hosting accounts, and WordPress accounts.
