Mich is correct. Raffaldinis and Picionne are amazing Italian wineries. Wilkesboro has a tourism director who is top notch, why doesn't the county or North Wilkesboro?
We have vineyards, distilleries, and if marijuana became legal our economy could grow 3 fold.

I've advocated i don't know how many times that the stretch on 268 is barren. I was laughed at for saying put a Target there. It splits the distance of the Walmart's in Elkin and Wilkesboro. The 19+ acres of land was for sale and with the new highway upgrades... could be lucrative business opportunity.
If I were put in the economic development. get a plane to fly some folks down from the Wilkes Airport, show them the area, give the statistics and make a deal.

Right now Wilkes alone has Raffaldini and Piccoine which are exceptional Italian wineries with awesome views. There is the potential for a few more wineries to be built in that area. There is also Roaring River and then Menarick in Ronda. As well as Jones Von Drehle and McRitchie in Thurmond. I think both are in Wilkes. Sort of on that Wilkes/Surry line area.
Sadly all 6 of those are in forgotten parts of the county.

You know I'd totally forgotten about that aspect. A few vineyards would be great for tourists to visit, and nice weddings. plush countryside. I went to the ragapple vineyard, super nice people and great landscape.
Not sure how you capitalize on this unless you had a person actively employed to do nothing but broadcast that these places exist.

Wilkes has quite a solid wine industry on the eastern part of the county and it's only going to go. People need to capitalize on that and push tourism. Tourism brings dollars.

And Yeah sexton actually was smart to say he'll listen to existing business owners. They have the insight on the situation. I'll agree it's good to get a mix in there. Democrats may have ideas, and we can all listen, refine and retune them to work. I'll still say LBPrevette atleast had an idea as a candidate about appealing to tourism, absolutely nothing wrong with that. That's smart too, we have great countryside areas to pull people in and maybe they'll like our charm and want to live here.

Was that you reading the struff? If so you did a great job. I say put the two Democrats in because we should mix em up a little. Not let one party control everything. Just a thought nothing more friend cause I sure don't know how to fix anything.
