The court house was just symbolic. What about a rumor Allan had built a big horse farm near Cain creek ? So nobody knows were all that money went. Iegal fees .... Bull.

They auctioned off bells cars and property on the front steps of the old court house. And all the time for a year mastin kept a deputy at bells house
24/7 for a year. Somebody got rich.

Not on the court house steps. The auction was conducted at the present location of the Restore in Wilkesboro. I was there and bought several items. I believe the proceeds went towards satisfying the judgement and paying the legal fees.

while this was a sad thing to happen, Barbara knew what kind of man he was and how mean he was!! It was all about the money and what he could give her and she just got caught up something she had no control over!!

We also know there family and nobody misses her as much as her mother and her mother once said that there would be no amount of money that would bring her back or replace her. The daughter that Barbara had, not sure where she is now Audrey does not talk about it much and I can understand it. After all this time I dont think the family would want any of the money.

Rip Barbara: I saw her right before she was killed, she was in court from being assaulted by her then boyfriend.I went to school with Barbara, and she was a wonderful person.she didn't deserve to die at the hands of a possessed man.
There will never be a correct time to debate her death. I'm sure her daughter is a grown woman who misses her mother.I say hello to Barbara every time I visit my fathers grave. I see her grave often and am reminded of the tragedy of her death.i don't care who was what,or who knew who.I just know my friend had her life taken from her and her daughter and didn't have the chance to move on with her life.

Barbara, I will see you soon. How many of you have visited her grave. Not many, I'm sure. Nothing any of you say will change anything. Gossip runs wild. Peace to her family.

Barbara was a wonderful lady. And did not deserve this at all. Those who just "speculate" on knowing any of the details should just refrain from any speculation in these types of post. Because ultimately.... You don't know **** about what happened. You don't know Barbara and probably never even had the pleasure of meeting her.

that cash was taken understands the assumption that it was taken to pay toward the lawsuit

Last I understood directly from her family, yes bell lost the suit but the victims family has never received anything, ms. Abshets brother lives in Wilkesboro with his mother but they never nor did ms. Abshets daughter get anything. It was stated that the family would probably never see a dime of money and that depend upon if his family was actually ordered to pay the family or if a judgment was placed against him, if a judgerment was placed then the family will never see a pennery.

Darn I remember this murder. Seems that no amount of $ would justify killing anyone. Just hope that God has mercy on people.

Taken from a newspaper article: Bell, who had made money selling drugs, was sentenced to 17 to 21 years in prison, and lost a $9.26 million civil lawsuit filed by the victim's family.

Right there are the golddiggers. Wasn't everything taken from him before he was even convicted of his crime? Sad the lady lost her life, but probably more to the story than anyone will know.

I don't think I know any of these people. How long ago did this happen? Where did they live?

Obviously it doesn't really matter now, does it.

She's gone he's gone...nothing is going to change that...

end of story.

People always amaze me on their ability to believe any story without questions . what was she doing with a drug dealer anyway if she wasn't money hungry? People have such short memories. LOL.

Dumbest thread of the year.

How would you like to clean YOUR sister's brains off the wall and floor?? Anything Alan acquired in a law suit (not suite), he should have received. Barbara never deserved to be stalked and brutally murdered. Who's William Bell? I thought his full name was Marvin Kenneth Bell?
