My issues with dss are that they seem to jump all over cases with no real issue while ignoring cases that are deadly serious. It makes me sick. Dss can be fixed, but it would take a complete overhaul to do it. Just like most of our government.

Listen folks it does not operate the way you want it to. It appears that some of you have had bad experiences with some of the employees at DSS, I have not. This tells me that DSS has been asked by someone to work in areas of your life that seem deficient. Don't make it so personal in your attacks just because you may have disagreed with some of the decisions made by DSS in their attempt to help you get your family in line. I am not a great supporter of the government assistance programs but they are sometimes needful to protect young children from adults that are not living up to their responsibilities. Just remember, you as a parent have already failed or you would not be assigned to a case worker. As far as the outcome and corrections that will be made at DSS, I doubt it will work out the way you want it to. That is not the way government agencies work. They are not going to go in and fire a bunch of people, run the out the door and shame them for failure. What they usually do is: Let them write a document defining what corrections need to be made to the documents they already have. They will get a panel of themselves or others that are sympathetic to them to determine what is needed to prevent getting caught in the future. First they will say they are under-staffed and need to hire more people to handle the heavy case load. Then they will ask for more money to carry it out. If money is available they will layer on another layer of bureaucrats to cushion themselves from blame or responsibility in the future. If money is not made readily available they will seek political candidates that are sympathetic to their cause and promote them as leaders. Long story,short, you are fooling with a government agency and they do not work like the general public. There is no end of resources, no end of relatives to fill vacancies, and no end to the plans and programs they can write. All we can do is sit back and hope something will change and parents will be parents and not get involved with DSS to start with. It is not the solution to our problems.

I called DSS once concerning my daughter who came home from a visit with her daddy and his new wife with a large bruise across the back of her leg which was very clearly a belt bruise. DSS informed me they had talked to him and he said it was where she had fallen on a bicycle or while on a bicycle. No way. It was like they truly did not care, just wanted an excuse to get me to shut me up and go away.

This will only be corrected if people keep the heat on DSS. I recommend anyone with a questionable case contact someone at the state level and demand their case be re-evaluated.

http://www.journalpatriot.c...b2370.html.. This is just what i expected/knew. It is now a fact that our local government has been a sleep at the wheel. The next time that our county commissioners need money they need to get it back from the Dss employes they have been paying for doing nothing. This house cleaning needs to continue with each department in the county leaving no stone unturned.
