Why do people throw trash on roads?

As a kid my parents told me to leave things better than I found them.

As a kid, I remember my parents always threw out their trash. We would go to Glenn's and get burgers to go, eat them on the way home, then throw out the wrappers before we got home. It never even crossed their minds that they were doing anything wrong! They figured that it would just rot away like everything else.
But back then everything came in paper wrapping, not plastic and styrofoam. So maybe it was different back then.

Myke I have heard of low lifes throwing dirty diapers in the recycling bins. We can't have anything nice.
Again, pay $4 a week for garbage service!

What about the civic minded citizens that take advantage of the recycling stations to dump their weekly trash? If it is too large to go thru the bin openings, just leave your discarded child seats, fans, bags of glass and other trash too numerous to list, outside the container and not to mention those too dang lazy to break down their cardboard boxes and leave them outside the container or just lift the top and throw them in as is.
There, I feel better already.

Have noticed the trash which seems to be getting worse. Doesn't take much effort to leave it in the car, perhaps in a grocery bag, then take it inside to your garbage can at home.

I say that if you throw trash on the roadside you have no respect for the land, the community, and your fellow citizens. Pure laziness and selfishness.

The inmates will not be picking up secondary roads anymore, and it seems like they were just doing it not more than a year ago,so according to that, in another year it will be impossible to see the grass on the road sides in another year. DISGUSTING!!!

I used to see inmates all the time in Wilkes county until a year or two ago. Then the litter pickup slowed down and the folks picking it up are not inmates. Even so, it's a shame that anyone needs pick it up. It makes our beautiful roads look terrible. I applaud the inmates for doing it.

I pick up trash on the road I live on. It's most always the same trash, pop bottles, beer bottles, and fast food drink cups, wrappers & bags. Some folks put their trash in a small plastic bag, tie it and throw it out the window. It's always special to pick up a pop bottle that's full of chew spit. If I don't pick up trash for 3 - 4 months I will fill up 4 of the 30 gallon bags along one mile of road. It's disgusting, especially when the convenience centers are so inexpensive.
