biteyourtongue I can't believe people have nothing better to worry about then if someone is giving their opinion of what hope75 said in her opinion of what others opinion is on this thread. I gave my opinion on you now and that is of the opinion I gave about the opinion hope75 shared. So if it's ok and sane for her to do it then I guess it's ok and sane if I do it too. I did exactly what she did just back at her. So now, NEXT !!!!!! biteyourtongue you sound like a typical gw hypocrite know what that is ?

the car lines wont get any shorter until they make it a huge hassle and start charging parents to drop off and pick up the little monsters.

Part of that logic, crypt, about the magic places, is a safety precaution because some kids are abducted by estranged parents, never to be seen again. If they are several cars back in the line and kids are getting out of the car running every which way, no way to keep up with them.

So there's a line of cars along the entire front of the school but the childen can't exit the car until they get to that magic spot where there are several adults waiting at the one magic spot on the sidewalk near the one magic door. Who came up with that idea?

There are definitely busses with three loads.

Ir Mr. Romney were president there would not be a department of education. The sister wives would teach the children. That way the children would know how to reach the Celestial Kingdom of God.

When I went to school I walked. 7 miles uphill both ways in a foot of snow barefoot. Year round.

Tell another one, no bus has more than 2 loads, get the facts before you talk about something you don't really know about. The state only gives a limited budget and they demand the buses be loaded to get the most for the buck. I don't believe the 6 pm time either for a town route

I didn't have the or time to read through all the replies on this post, but i did feel the need to state facts about what kids have to go through because they are a bus rider. My child gets on the bus at 545am and gets off the bus at 6pm.... His bus driver has 3 bus loads. My personal opinion, a few extra buses might improve this for my child and other children who have similar bus routes. This gives him 2 hours after getting home to do shool work, eat dinner etc....then if he goes to bed at 9 , gets up at 5 am to get his 8 hrs ....
If i lived in an outer part of the County i may be able to understand it a little better, but i live in north Wilkesboro city limits.

Thanks to Obama and his job killing policies, hardly anyone has a job anymore so we have time to take our kids to school and pick them up in the afternoon.

Only you are right about kids at risk however that doesn't change the fact that for most kids they are not required to provided transportation.

Joe T, there are times when transportation must be provided.

115C-105.41. Students who have been placed at risk of academic failure; personal education plans; transition teams and transition plans.

(a) In order to implement Part 1A of Article 8 of this Chapter, local school administrative units shall identify students who are at risk for academic failure and who are not successfully progressing toward grade promotion and graduation, beginning in kindergarten. Identification shall occur as early as can reasonably be done and can be based on grades, observations, diagnostic and formative assessments, State assessments, and other factors, including reading on grade level, that impact student performance that teachers and administrators consider appropriate, without having to await the results of end-of-grade or end-of-course tests. No later than the end of the first quarter, or after a teacher has had up to nine weeks of instructional time with a student, a personal education plan for academic improvement with focused intervention and performance benchmarks shall be developed or updated for any student at risk of academic failure who is not performing at least at grade level, as identified by the State end-of-grade test and other factors noted above. Focused instructional supports and services, reading interventions, and accelerated activities should include evidence-based practices that meet the needs of students and may include coaching, mentoring, tutoring, summer school, Saturday school, and extended days. Local school administrative units shall provide these activities free of charge to students. Local school administrative units shall also provide transportation free of charge to all students for whom transportation is necessary for participation in these activities.

Local school administrative units shall give notice of the personal education plan and a copy of the personal education plan to the student's parent or guardian. Parents should be included in the implementation and ongoing review of personal education plans. If a student's school report card provides all the information required in a personal education plan, then no further personal education plan is mandated for the student.

No cause of action for monetary damages shall arise from the failure to provide or implement a personal education plan under this section.

(b) Local boards of education shall adopt and implement plans for the creation of transition teams and transition plans for students at risk, as defined by the State Board of Education, to assist them in making a successful transition between the elementary school and middle school years and between the middle school and high school years. (2001-424, s. 28.17(e); 2009-542, s. 1; 2010-162, s. 1; 2011-145, s. 7.13(ee); 2011-391, s. 14(a); 2012-77, s. 4; 2012-142, s. 7A.1(d); 2013-226, s. 2.)

I don't have to "make excuses" to take my child to school and pick them up. My kid, my car and my business. I do it because I want to (and because I'm afraid that Fin's kid would be sitting with mine on the bus, lol). Just kidding, fins.

hope75 is one of the most sane, level-headed people on GW, and believe me, there aren't many of those on here. When you start a thread, ANYONE has the right to post their opinion and that is what she did. Just because she didn't say EXACTLY what you wanted her to say, doesn't mean she shouldn't post it. I always enjoy reading her posts and value her opinions. You should open your mind a little more. You get stuck on one subject and no room for anything else. Yes there are a lot of kids driving their own cars to school that probably could ride a school bus & I am sure there are many parents driving their kids to school that could put them on a bus, but sometimes work hours of parents doesn't work with bus schedules and anyone with any sense knows you can't leave a small child at home to get on a bus by itself. My opinion on kids driving cars to school...if the parents can afford it, it's no ones business but theirs.

There are more important things to think about besides school buses and movie theaters. JMO, and I am entitled to it.

hope75 obviously you have nothing more to worry about either, because you have free time to get on here and give your opinion of what others are writing about. We are giving our opinion on most kids these days riding individually in cars to and from school each day. You are giving your opinion on what others are writing about in these threads. So who is more wrong here ?
