Now ump just because you are mentally unstable and no one trust you with a gun, doesn't mean JT is a danger to anyone.
The largest growing segment of gun owner in the country are woman. What do you fear that? Why should they not have the right and ability to protect themselves ? Why do you support violence against them?
Why do you hate them ump? Why?

Again, Umpire has a dogmatic attitude. Possible for good reason.? I do not know. I would suppose we all can be dogmatic from time to time. However a "my way or the highway" attitude is often unproductive and only serves to alienate a person or groups of persons.

Firearms, Knifes, axes, hoes, and many other inventions were all invented to help people live so by that they can and do fall under the definition of Tools.
An ax was invented to chop down trees and cut wood, but they can be used to chop your head off. A hoe was made to dig and chop into the ground but they could be used to chop your head off and wack you into little chunks of dead meat. Knives came about to help hunters to eat but they can be used to slit your throat. A car was invented to get you some where faster but they could be used to run you over and kill you. Cell Phones were invented to help communications and to communicate but could be used to smack you in the head or thrown at you as a rock. Candle sticks were invented to hold candles to keep you from burning your fingers but they can be used to bust you in the head till your brains leaked out.
It all depends on what someone uses something for as to how it can be defined.

A firearm is nothing more than a tool. It can be used to save a life or take a life. It is the person that controls it that we need to focus on. PEOPLE are the problem! Our minds are complicated and unpredictable. However statistically MOST people are good people. Even most folks that want to get rid of all private gun ownership are doing so out of a desire to make the world better. Those that want to require more stringent back ground checks , mental checks, etc.... They are only wanting a safer society. By the same thought process most of the folks that own guns and OR carry guns with them ( in there car or on there person CCH ) are only Wanting the ability to protect themselves or there loved ones. In there mind they are making life/society better. Unlike the criminal that would use a firearm as a TOOL for illegal purposes. In there mind the LAW does not matter. There is no way to deal with this individual using the LAW until they have violated the law and been caught. During the commisioning of the that crime it is safe to assume there was no police there to stop it at THAT MOMENT. That leaves it up to the victim to provide for his/her protection. I can only assume that some folkes DO NOT want to be a dead or raped victim. So they want to be LEGALLY armed.

Umpire does not know the difference between a sheepdog and a wolf! In a dogmatic mind set " the GUN is BAD and it does not matter if it is controlled by a GOOD person or a BAD person".
I own a truck that weighs over 6K lbs and drive it daily. I have had no problems with it killing any one. But there are many people that operate much smaller vehicles( mopeds ;) ) that cause problems every day. Maybe we need to hire more police to control and check people ,maybe restrict the driving age to persons 21-65. Make all personal vehicles 4cylinders governed for top speeds of 55mph. Also make all CELL PHONES non functioning in a moving vehicle. And while we are at it remove all MAKE UP mirrors ! Make all roads TOLL roads and charge a very high fee to drive ! You know ....use the idea of make it HURT financially and you can change the behavior of the SHEEP! Kinda like some folks would like to do with the ammo/powder tax  ! In a society that has some folks preaching against discrimination and how wrong it is to stereo type / profile people, it seems to be OK for some to do just that with GUN OWNERS.

Yes guns play a major part in my life i have carried a gun for years everyday everywhere i go even to work. No one knows i carry. I carry a gun because im not going to be a victim. You would be a lot better off if you did as well. Get some good traning and always remember you never shoot to take a life only to save a life

It has not been determined to my full satisfaction as to whether I am a LEO or a VIRGO as my DOB falls in that border line date. So I cannot be passing judgment against other LEOs.

| Looking back at the mass shootings committed in recent history, how many of those were committed by people that had severe mental problems? A lot. How often have we heard someone close to them talk about their mental condition leading up to the crime? A lot. These were committed by people that could have been identified as troubled if someone had paid attention and took the matter seriously.

I think that most doctors would say that anyone that felt inclined to commit mass murder would have a severe mental problem. The problem is that they're not always diagnosed, so undiagnosed psychotics have no problem getting a gun. But it's the ones that are undiagnosed that are the problem! It's a Catch 22. How do you prevent people that might some day develop a mental problem from buying a gun? Research family histories? Require a doctor's note saying that they have no evidence of a mental problem? Require guns to be licensed and renewed every year, with a stiff penalty for letting the license lapse?
