The jobs COULD come back if only the manufacturers decided they were tired of putting profits before people. I miss the old days when good paying jobs were plentiful. Ithaca, American Drew, Wilkes Glove, Golden Needles, etc. We worked hard but we could actually afford to live & were even able to go on vacation sometimes! Now, not so much!

WHAT KIND OF JOBS? Manufacturing, textile,furniture, ect ,are gone and not coming back sorry to say.We need to focus on the future not dwell in the past. Wilkes is huge with a wide variety in demographics.We take our bushiness out of town. If we had more places would we stay here. I agree we need more planning, and infrastructure of the county.

Chuckie Cheese, Dave & Busters,Hooters, Popeye's Chicken, Texas Roadhouse and Tin Tin Chinese/Japenese Buffet like in Winston and Charlotte. Maybe a really good Seafood Place as well.

Local Family entertainment. Skating Rink, Bowling Ally, Better Mini golf place in North Wilkesboro. Possibly near the the Save a lot store. Lots of land and parking there for those type of businesses. Better planning of utilities. Pretty much all off 268 is being redone with new sewage pipes, but comm and power is still being put on poles. (clear the skylines) Actual city planning that doesn't put retirement homes in the city that we need growth in.

Some very nice neighborhoods in Wilkes , if all I could see were hoes and drugs I'd move to a better neighborhood.
