Vast cuts to Medicaid f

this n that

Posted 8:17 pm, 05/22/2017

There's a Congressman that will put forth a proposal that he want to become law.

It calls for anyone on Medicaid 18=55 able to work, be required to work 20 hrs a week, or community service, or school 20 hrs. to get Medicaid.

I know someone on Medicaid that will be glad to have this happen. She wants to work, but will lose her benefits if she does.

She suffers from depression, but on the right meds she thinks she could work. But if she does, and the stress gets to her, then the benefits won't be there to fall back on.

This law won't say they CAN work, it will say they MUST contribute in some way.
Maybe it will get somewhere, sounds better than what they have now.

We spend more tax money on politicans than we do for the healthcare of millions of aging Americans. Can anyone explain that one.

Congress budgets money on themselves and other politicians to "run" the Government than on Medicare/Health that would benefit millions of aging Americans. They have to be kidding me. And the biggest boondoggle mind blowing $1,000 pencil, 10 trillion dollar weapons of mass destruction, mission accomplished-
$598 billion dollars in 2015 to the Military. That's nine times what they budget for Medicare/Health that could save tens of thousands of live, or Education which could help our next generation pay off some of our debts instead of getting deeper and deeper like we have.

Ole Sarge, if you really see the world that way then I believe something has happened in your life to make you jaded and bitter. Let some love in your heart! Not all people are bad, in fact I know a lot of great people in Wilkes County!!

And yes, I know I sound like a flower child, I can't help it though, I choose to see the good in the world instead of focusing on the negative

But I'm going to bed now, Good Night GW! Hope y'all have wonderful Mondays tomorrow!

We see things so differently because I live in the real world. I see it every day.

Decsurvey, I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps you can try to be a positive influence in that family member's life?

But it happens, I've got a family member like that too. I'm sure most GWers do. But that doesn't discredit the legitimate hardworking people of the world who depend on "anit-poverty" programs. Now if Wilkes had a lot of high paying jobs, people wouldn't need to supplement their income by accepting help from the government, but those jobs are few and far between.

And ht, I agree, I know quite a few struggling single mothers and families who could qualify for assistance but simply refuse to take help because of the stigma GWers attach to it!

Conrad, your comment made me laugh!

Goodness, that must be INCREDIBLY frustrating! I am many things, but lazy is not one of them. It makes me cringe to think of not working or contributing in any way, shape or form to society.

As for those who are able to work and WILL NOT living on backs of others, it is time to go to work. I have a close family member that really need to get her lazy *** and that *** of her boyfriend to work. Neither can hold a job for more than two weeks. Why, not because they are disabled, mental illness, or other impairment; they are plain lazy and lie around smoking pot most days from money they get off others.

They live in a very nice rent paid apartment for $25 a month, get their electric bill paid as well by same organization that pays the rent.

Those disabled, mental, and elderly more power to you. You are the ones who should be raising **** to get the able bodied off the rolls.

dec, my parents always said "If you wait until you can afford them, you will never have them!" I agree with what you are saying, but it is not realistic.

In my opinion, making FAIR cuts that will not target the poor and middle class is much better than creating cuts that target the poor and middle class to enhance the richest of the rich (which is what is happening now).

At least Obama tried to make it easier for first-time homeowners by doing a tax credit. I don't see Donald doing anything that helps me.

Kids, if you cannot afford to raise then do not have them. One child for a person struggling to make a living is more than enough.

OS, I wonder how you and I came to see things so differently. You are probably a nice person in real life, but I do not understand why you don't have faith that most people would rather work and support their families than accept assistance.

I know people who could really use help from the safety net, but they are extremely proud and will not do so.

Part of our different viewpoints is probably tied up into what news/media we consume. I wouldn't watch Fox News if you Clockwork Oranged me, but you have told me that is your preferred network.

Just the opposite HT. For the many cheats, there are some who really need and will accept the assistance.
