It seems obvious that the majority of blacks would vote for a black candidate because they figure the black candidate would better understand their needs and be more inclined to work for things that would benefit them. Both parties have had ample time since black were given the right to vote to win the blacks over to their side. Evidently, the Democrats have come out the winners. It's not like the Republican Party doesn't have the option and ability to legislate in ways that would garnish black votes. Look at how few black politicians there are overall. Blacks have pretty much always had to live with whatever white politicians have deemed best for them.

How is it any different than the white community for the most part throwing their support behind white candidates...Hispanics supporting Hispanic candidates, etc.? Each group generally spends money at businesses run by their type when they have that option. Live in communities that are predominately people of their own kind.

The more important question is what has Tillis done for anyone except the 1%ers?

The same things that benefit any average joe in NC also benefits the black community. Hagan has done all she can do to encourage job growth, reduce crime, further education, etc.

What exactly is it that you (OP) think any candidate should do specifically for the black community? They have the same needs and desires as the rest of us. You don't expect them to get any special treatment any other time, so, why now are candidates expected to provide programs designed specifically for them?

Maybe you could tell us what Tillis has done for the blacks?

DUMPIRE - back on topic - give me an example where a white candidate running against a black candidate received more then 20 percent of the black vote. Also, the reference reads "Embattled Jesse Jackson Jr. wins re-election despite criminal probe" Case closed!

I personally like the 1800-1900 hundreds. Nostalgic.

Good point tobe. That's why I don't vote for Fox or any commissioner with a R beside his name.

a vote for a Republican in Wilkes County is a vote for keeping Wilkes County in the late 1800's- early 1900's

also as long as the Good and Proper White Folk in Wilkes County continue voting for the same type of

candidate as they always have our county will continue to deteriorate on every level

high crime

low education

lack of jobs

no industries coming in

in another 20 years wilkes county will be no more than a pass through on the way to other places

it is almost like that now.

wilkes has a grand total of 4 things of note.

Tyson plant

Gardener mirror

Merle Fest

Apple festival

Well Skeptic, can you tell me anything that Shirley Randleman has done for Wilkes. Or anything that McCrory, Tillis, or Berger have done for this state since elected? I think it is disrespectful to ask such a question to the blacks. Keep voting republican, ans see our state, and county keep sinking to the bottom of the ocean.
