I am old! I have never owned a Credit Card, Debit Card or any other plastic. I deal in cash, so I have no problem with when ,where or how much to tip.

Working in customer service.. sometimes I feel like I deserve a tip just for having to deal with certain people. There’s no tip button at my desk though. I do not tip at places without waiters but yeah I feel a little rude hitting the no tip button when the person ringing me up is watching me do it.

Why does everybody think they deserve a tip? Hairdressers, waitress, waiters, etc...I mean every where you go anymore no matter what the prefession they all expect a tip. I am waiting til the day I go into Walmart and they put a tip button on the self check out lanes!

You have to remember that when a company designs a point of sale system for food services, they build a fairly generic design intended to work for all restaurants. So not all features may apply. They need the tipping option in there for when it applies. It doesn’t mean they intend for you to tip cashiers.

As a rule, you tip if the food is brought to you, eq. waiters/waitresses/pizza delivery/etc.
If you go get the food, eq. MickeyDs, BK, Hardees, etc., no tip is required.

Let's start by first making sure you tip in places WITH servers

When you pick up at Papa Johns now you insert your card into their little card reader, have to press No Tip, then type in your pin code. With the cashier standing there watching
I would definitely tip the delivery driver, but why have it on the card reader at the register?
Shanghai Express is the same way so it's not just pizza places
I've waited tables and it's a hard job, they deserve a good tip! But a cashier isn't a server

No. I tip really well. But you have to do something to earn it. I think the reason Papa Johns has tipping on the receipt is for delivery drivers. Why is it rude to not give someone a handout for doing their job? Remember that waitstaff are paid less than minimum wage. But someone running a register isn’t paid less than minimum wage. Next time ask them who even gets the tip. Odds are, it’s not that person.

I've always over tipped, but when they're not actually waiting tables it really bugs me! I shouldn't feel obligated to give someone a tip that didn't do anything but ring me up

No......Why would I? If it's a waiter, depends on what they deserve, but all the waitresses I had were happy to take what I could give. Even if it was a $1.50 since I don't go out to eat a lot. :^I

Do you guys tip at places without waiters?
I've noticed that a lot of restaurants that don't have servers or anything, like Village Inn or Papa Johns, still have an option when you pay to add a tip. So while the cashier is standing there and watching I'm forced to hit No Tip
I feel obligated to tip at least 10%, even though they're not a server and aren't getting a server's wage. But with them standing there watching, it feels so rude to hit the No Tip button! It makes me not even want to go back to those places
