The swing vote on scotus Antonin Scalia dies.

CONRAD

There is ample precedent to wait until after the presidential election to name the next SCOTUS nominee. Prudence would seem to be a benefit. I agree that Scalia brought a perspective to the court that is lacking. He was an originalist and interpreted the Constitution as such.

"Since Clown Trump and the other Clowns want Obama to not do his job and nominate a replacement, should we assume GOP sniffers want him to take off the rest of his term and play golf?"

Yeah, that is pure politics and it's wrong. Outside of arguments associated with whether or not a potential nominee views the U.S. Constitution as a living document or a document to be resigned to original intent, the individual's personal beliefs shouldn't even be an issue. It irritates me to no end when people push for "liberal" or "conservative" justices. Trying to put off the potential nomination of a Supreme Court Justice for a year in the hopes that your political team can attempt to insert their particular brand of political bias is blatant corruption of the process and is essentially the equivalent of judicial gerrymandering. Americans of all political affiliations should be furious at the mere suggestion, regardless of of their respective political party, affiliations or ideology.

I know that there are many that don't see this the way that I do because they want someone that identifies with their team on the Supreme Court. Here's the problem though... If we continue to allow this corruption, then it essentially undermines the judicial integrity of the court. The bias of Justices should be confined to existing law and constitutional adherence. Their allegiance should be to justice and constitutional integrity.

The posting that I am replying to was aimed at Republicans, but it should be said that if the shoe were on the other foot, Democrats would probably be pushing for the exact same thing and they would be just as wrong in doing so.

Of course if we had a republitard President, the sniffers would be shouting for a speedy appointment.
Sniffer hypocrites!

Antonin Scalia requested cremation in his will, but millions of women will meet tomorrow to discuss if that's really best for his body.

I dream of Grayson being as handsome as he is bright.

I'm assuming he looks like George Clooney, with Einstein's brain. He plays soccer like Messi, and drives like Mario Andretti. He is stern but fair with his children, and always makes sure his woman is fully satisfied before going to bed. He only ***** happiness and kittens. When he makes dinner, there is aways enough left over for the local orphans to dine on for a week. Flakes of gold are left in his tracks when he passes.

I've given this some thought.

"Justice Scalia was an intensely partisan individual."

Perhaps we have misunderstood one another. My statement was not intended to reference Scalia's potential partisanship or any lack thereof. I did not intend to infer any judgement either way regarding the man.

Well, that was what I was talking about. I sure as **** never mentioned the nomination process, but was called a stupid **** anyway for apparently mentioning the nomination process.

If you think political affiliation makes a difference, then not only do you have no class, you are a complete moron. Show some respect for a dead man

It does make a difference...at least, with conservatives. I have not said a word, nor will I, about Scalia, other than I couldn't stand the man, but, I still remember how GW repubs did a happy dance when Sen Ted Kennedy died, and Jimmy Carter announced he had cancer.

So, they have no right to lecture anybody.

If corporations can't buy an American politician for a fair price then our country is doomed. That's how we roll.
