GENEVA - Tuesday afternoon the parents of Michael Brown testified before the United Nations Committee Against Torture in Geneva.
Lesley McSpadden and Michael Brown Sr. are taking part in the 53rd session of the Committee Against Torture as part of a delegation organized by the Atlanta and New York-based U.S. Human Right's Network. The delegation submitted a 13-page brief on behalf of the family of Michael Brown, HandsUpUnited, Organization for Black Struggle, and Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment. The brief details what the delegation considers as torture according to how they interpret the Convention Against Torture. The Convention Against Torture is the United Nations' international human rights treaty that provides specific guidelines for governments to follow to prevent inhuman and degrading treatment.
