I love the peace I feel with God and nature early of the morning. I especially like being outside about the time the sun breakes the horizon. The birds singing in the quitness of the early morning hrs. The coolness of the weather and smell the freshness the cool night air has brought to another day. Thinking of my family and friends and wondering if they enjoy moments like this as well as I do. Getting excited about what this new day has to bring. I never had these feelings very often when I was younger, but they are getting to be more often as years go by. The many pleasures of life are more noticable the older I get.

Little things in my life that I enjoy. I hate to say I have few. It is how I look at things and I am going to change and maybe I will be able to see things that really make me happy.

The stillness around my lake late in the evenings and the early mornings.

My dog greeting me at the door.

The love of friends and family.

The newest editions of Taste of the South and Our State magazines each month.

Reading the latest best-seller.

Watching the deer, squirrles and chipmunks playing in my yard.

Finding raccoon and deer tracks in the sand by the creek.

Hearing a woodpecker drill for supper.

Hearing bobwhites and whiporwills (well I used too, haven't heard either one in years ).

Smelling a freshly mown yard.

This is crazy...I love how my house smells when I come home from work...

I have a lil song sparrow that sits in his personal walnut tree and sings to me in the morning. I am sure he is the same one as last year...

Mowing on the John Deere...

The smell of fresh-cut hay...oh yeah.

That "gettin' in the car" feeling after a long, hard, slammin' day at work...

All my friends, texting or calling to check on me, everyday. That means sooo much to me...

"Hey, were are my boys?" (words my wife says when she first gets home. She's talking about our little dog, and me!

A good book in my hand, soft music on the stereo, and my little dog on my lap. If life got any better than that, I wouldn't be able to stand it!

Fried Okra and squash from the garden. A nice, juicy ribeye and a baked potato overflowing with butter. UMMMM!

Sunday afternoon spent watching a good WWII movie, preferably one with submarines or some type of naval warfare, or one about fighter pilots locked in battle. Or most any old film with Tracy and Hepburn.

Hearing something truly unique and creative on the radio...especially if it comes from someone young. It gives me hope for the future!

Seeing the look on my daughters face first thing in the morning when she first sees me in her room. The smell of fresh cut grass gets me every time. Hearing my baby say "mum mum" over and over again about 10 times and when I say what, after she keeps saying it, eventually she will give me this look and say "hi". haha!
