That's what Trump said, last I heard the Manhattan DA's office is mum on the subject. What happens if Trump is not arrested next week or anytime for that matter? What if Trump put that out to box the DA into a put up or shut up position? Because anything less than an arrest AND a conviction doesn't hurt Trump at all, it may even help him�remember the two impeachments, NOTHING, because impeachment without removal from office means nothing, just ask Bill Clinton.
On Nov 14, 1998, while Clinton was president, he paid Paula Jones $850,000 to go away. That was no issue.
The reason that Trump's payoff is illegal is because he did it while campaigning without disclosing it as a campaign expense. Which makes it a violation of campaign finance laws.
This is the exact same thing that John Edwards did in 2011. He was indicted, but the jury deadlocked on 5 of the 6 charges and found him not guilty on the 6th charge. The Justice Dept decided against retrying the case. This means that there IS a precedent for criminal charges, but no precedent yet for a conviction.
Thus, the main difference is that American liberals are socially liberal, and American conservatives are socially conservative. Otherwise, they are both classically liberal and classically conservative to some degree.
