That will be a great place for a restroom. I do hope they will keep someone there when events are happening to keep it clean.

Actually I see a need for public restrooms in that area. One of my kids just refuses to use the porta potty, even though it's clean. But I hope they do more than just restrooms. It's a nice building in a good location.

I always enjoy ODD's stories and recollections of Wilkes County. Also Bee, if you haven't checked out "What's For Breakfast" thread, ODD has been known to write charming poems about the cat heads he eats for breakfast!

That's all right you young whippersnapper! I think they are in the process of gutting the inside. I heard they have plans to construct public restrooms there along with several other things which support the planned activities by the Town of Wilkesborough.

If must be an old building if it was around when ODD was a young'un! I kid! I kid!

I've noticed it before and thought it was pretty but never been inside, I think it may be empty now? Or has offices/businesses that didn't catch my attention.

Great information Dixie Dog, and great views Here to Offend. I've been trying to figure out which building and where it's located.

It is a old building Pollock. I was there in 1945 with my mother who was having her hair done by Ms. Edith Lowe. I do not remember why, but Ms. Lowe told Ma to set me in the chair when she finished working on her. This was my first and only store bought haircut until I was about fourteen years old. Dr.T.R. Bryan had his practice in that building for several years.

Oh, okay. Yeah I guess that building qualifies as a "rock building." Do they have plans for it, or just renovating?

The Open Air Market was terminated because the crowds died off and the vendors went elsewhere for revenue.

I thought maybe they were talking about the old courthouse? Now I'm more confused and having trouble picturing what buildings are in downtown Wilkesboro.

So they did cancel the Open Air Market? Does that include the events where the bands play and they have the inflatables set up for kids?

It is the rock building between the Heritage Museum and the Open Air Market(Which shut down just as they completed it because of lack of interest)

is it not the old building beside the courthouse where the Red Cross use to be?

I'm just curious which "rock building" the article is talking about renovating.

It also appears that Boone is getting some money from the State too, to finally finish renovating the Appalachian Theater.

Oh and Walmart got robbed!
