Any idea how the roads are out in Roaring River? I needed to get out today. Would be taking White Plains to 268

No body shopping today???? Have you seen the Walmart parking lot? All those who couldn't make it into work are in Walmart doing their Christmas shopping,,,,

My husband is driving and we are leaving an hour and a half early for a drive that takes 15 minutes on a normal day. I better get a raise soon for all this.

Yeah, but they sure as heck won't close it. Not if they think they can make even a penny.

Then let them risk their lives to come in and make that penny. Believe me, they won't be grateful to you for your loyalty.

Thanks, Sunflower ... I had no idea .. and I agree ... there are lots of variables ... it's just ice only here maybe a quarter inch or less where I'm at ... up there where you are at, it looks like a frozen lake with frozen ruts ...or is that shush in that last shot?

I might be crazy but I'm going to attempt going to work.

I think it depends upon the amount of build-up and if it was packed snow or pure ice. There is also the ground temperature that can keep the ice frozen or help to melt the stuff.... I think 30 minutes will make a real difference, too many variables to say for sure

Not that I am planning on going out, but I was wondering ... once a brine truck has gone up and down a two-lane road, approximately how long would it be before that road was safe or safer to drive on if it were overcast an roughly 30 outside ??
I feel bad for all of those that HAD to go somewhere today and crashed or went in the ditch.
I think I'd take HIPPIE's advice ..

That Lanie Pope is seriously out of her mind. No way is it going to be 38 today.

My boyfriend was on his way to work this morning and ended up sitting in traffic at the 21/77 intersection outside of Elkin for over an hour and a half. He said there was a bad wreck, but I can't find any info on it. He said it looked really bad. the roads were pretty sketchy this morning....don't know how they are now.

I need to go to Staples and get a Sharpie so I can write STUPID on my forehead for shoveling the ice off my sidewalk and walking to the mailbox The mail lady came up here anyway, I did not need to take my packages down there to mail them
