For what a 770 costs you can buy a Savage,Weatherby Vanguard or a Howa and have a more solid gun. Like HDSG06 said if you buy a 770 and decide to sell it you'll be lucky to get half your money back.

Thanks everyone, I have an older Remington and it has served me well for over 40 years. Definitely brought home the meat. I am buying these guns for my grandkids; they will be starter's to find out if they will be big game hunters. Again thanks.

I have had a Remington 770 in 270 Caliber for several years the only thing about it it doesn't chamber ammo very good. But it seems to be getting a little easier as time goes by.Trigger guard on mine broke off but remington sent me a new Stock under warranty. No problems as far as accuracy.

Go to any pawn shop and take your pick they're everywhere and that's not a good thing. I was in a local pawn shop when the owner gave a man $150 for one in .270. I wouldn't have give that.

The action feels a lil sloppy to me. I looked at. rem. 770 and the savage youth with accutrigger. I bought the savage and could not be happier.

Spend a little more for a Weatherby or Ruger.

Remington's are generally good IMO. Be aware that a lot of gun owners of 700s have some accidental discharge issues. I'd recommend you study that a little before you make up your mind to purchase one.

Grandpa I've never owned or fired a 770 but I now own a couple of their 700 series rifles. If you are worried about the quality of their firearms you can't go wrong with them. I think the 770 is one of their no non sense plain rifles thats adequate for about anybodys use. The calibers they make them in would work for any deer sized game around here. I wouldn't worry about it's reliability or accuracy. Most of the Remington Firearms I have owned I've felt were about as good a bargain for the money that a man could get.
