Wonder how many more schools we need ? Nothing wrong with shopping at Dollar General and sometimes paying less than a third of what other stores charge.

Wilkes is actually a pretty great place. I hate that the pill epidemic has polluted the way it has, but that doesn't change the quality of all the people. And there's nothing wrong with being a redneck.

Wonder who the people are, where and how they live, when they only see the seedy side of our county. We may not be perfect, but we're way better than most. Like goddess said, participate, instead of looking under rocks.

I respectfully disagree....You might be a piece of crap if DSS has your children and you don't make any effort to get them back. You miss drug tests, are late for supervised visits with your children, continue to do the activities that caused you to lose your children, do nothing to financially support your children, make grand promises to the children that never happen, and get/cause another pregnancy. I know of three women/men in this county that live that kind of life and one whose newborn was placed in her mother's care before she left the hospital. There doesn't seem to be any single social or economic group, and the only factor that the ones I know of have in common is drug abuse. Two of the women I know of came from decent homes with parents who tried to do the right thing and I don't know the history of the third.
