I was here not long after GoWilkes Started. Not sure of the date but it hadn't been online very long at all. Of course that screen name is dead but I was here just the same. Back then it was the best forum on the net and had some of the best posters ever to be involved in. I can remember when Connie and Sherrie posted daily! Many many others, some died, some just went away and some are still here! But none that are left post threads or posts in the same manner as they did back then. If they tried, well I doubt it would even be worth their time as it would turn into cluster ****.
Those was and I do mean was the best times of GoWilkes....

I came here in Dec of 2004.New computer for Christmas and a turn-on to gowilkes by a guy I hiked with.Gone but not forgotten.

That's really a hard one to answer, HT, for several reasons:
1. I only began archiving sign up dates and last login dates in 2008. I really just archived last logins because I had considered showing whether a user was currently online, but then decided that it might be too invasive so I never have used that date for anything.
But because of this, I can only do a database search back to 2008. For data before that period, I have to do a bit more legwork.
2. Remember that we didn't even begin registering usernames until around 2007, so any users that came in before that wouldn't show up in in the registered users list.
3. The term "active" is somewhat subjective. A few months ago, there was a thread asking about old users, and several of the old usernames popped in to say "hello". I wouldn't really call them active, per se, but technically, their last login was pretty recent.
Similarly, a lot of people log in to the chat room or just to send Private Messages, but you don't see them in the forums. So they're actually active, but they might not appear to be.
So, keeping in mind that this is in no way accurate, a few contenders that come to my mind would be:
Connie Jupiter Sherrie Alex goldfish NICCINC
I might be able to come up with a little more technical way to be accurate, but let me think on that one.
