This is a free country, or should I say we have freedom of speech according to the U.S. Constitution so you have a right to your opinion and I to mine.

Sorry Agent Orange or whoever you are. If you don't like my posts then 'take a hike.' First of all I have experienced most every kind of depression there is and so I do have a little knowledge about it Truthfully, if you watch enough news you may feel the need of a pill or a stiff 'drink' to get you through it. Most news outlets not only inform but also attempt to affect public opinion or drive you nuts so you feel like you may need a pill. Trouble is when you get a pill you also get a mental health diagnosis and therefore cannot be licensed to own a firearm.....another plus for gun control. H-m-m-m.
Second, I am not a moron. I know you want me to shut up and that is the very reason I won't.

Emp is kind of right. My father can't handle watching the news because he claims it makes him anxious and depressed. I love watching the news. Depends on your mindset and strength.
Jodi Province is located off of college street in Wilkesboro near the UPS place. I think she has other locations in Elkin and a new place in Statesville. Phone number is 336-838-0733.
Good luck.

You may be watching too much TV, especially the 'news.'

A psychologist cannot prescribe medication, but only offer talk therapy. Carenet is located on the hill across from Wilkes hospital in the old medical arts building. They offer therapy there and cost is based on a sliding scale. There is a new psychiatrist in Elkin, but they are backed up until November. Also, in the medical type brown building on School Street, there's Rowan Psych Services, Dr. Dimpka's office. Not a great place, but I think there are therapists there as well as nurse practitioners who can prescribe meds. Best of luck! Psych care has slim pickings locally.

If you are insured, or Medicare or Medicaid, call the Hugh Chatham Hospital. They have a outpatient clinic with a psychiatrist who opened last summer.
Get set up with them and they could do med mgmt. and referral to psychologist counseling.

I'm not really sure where to look for these, the only place I know of is the place by Cooks. Location doesn't matter too much, anywhere from Statesville to Elkin to Wilkesboro.
