Keep your animals at home. They are not children or even in-laws. Even if you don't need a break from them they need a break from you.

once I took a very controlled Rottweiler(with temperament to die for) into the Post Office to check my mail. I figured it wasn't that big of a deal, considering there was a lady there, just weeks before with a tiny baby chihuahua and all were just gushing over it. Much to my surprised, I was taken aside and told it would not be good to bring my dog in there again as it could scare off some of the customers. I informed her of the event weeks before and advised if this need be she might want to put up a sign no dogs allowed. You can't just allow in what fits the ankle bitters needs, I'm affraid.

If you are going to travelchck with the hotel to make sure that they allow dogs but most of them have a limit of lbs and how many.

yea....I know ppl love it when they get those pups home but running them all over town is rather stupid. Rottweiler's, for some reason....have been found to be especially vulnerable to parvo and even if one isn't getting that pup til 8 weeks old, I'd suggest watching them get a parvo shot from the vet or owners the day they turn old enough, don't prolong it. They won't be as cute an cuddly but 4 months is better than no months.

Make sure your pet is fully vaccinated before taking it anywhere at all, especially for parvo. Not just one vaccination, but the whole series. You have to be super careful with little puppies!

I always get that little jewel....even the lepto vaccine....so I'm covered but I imagine petsmart being such a small space...and all that is required to get your dog groomed is a rabies shot....you'd be a nut not to do all that is humanly possible before exposing them to every irresponsible owner in wilkes.

Make sure your pup has been fully vacinated before going to petsmart, especially for Bordatella. My dog got kennel cough both times I took her there.

Pets etc, dog park, I even saw a young lady at lowes food carrying her pooch around in a pet carrying bag. Also at the dollar general. Heck just take your pup on a ride with you. My dog gets car sick, so it never is a smooth ride, lol.

feel free to take your pup for a walk along the greenway. even if you don't shop there, a trip to petsmart is a good training tool for you dog. it is part of the socialization needed. do all that you can to introduce your pup to noises, people, different situations. just walking around in a parking lot will help you dog be less skiddish around motor vehicles and strange people. don't forget trips to your vet's office too. don't just go when something is wrong. stop by the office just to weigh the dog. let the people behind the desk pet the dog. all these things make for a great companion animal

example = there is an area fairly close to my house where people target practice. my own dog plays and runs without any regard to the noise. when family members come to visit, their dogs run and hide when they hear gunshots.

a confident dog is a dog that bites less, less aggressive, and more trusting. this type of dog is the easiest to train.

I have a new puppy and was wondering what places here in Wilkes that are pet friendly? I see alot of animals riding in cars so I would love to be able to take her with me to town and not have to leave her in the car.
