there is black dye in mine all the time. I don't put it the oil, I don't know how it gets there.

leaking a $4.00 quart of oil every couple of weeks/month/few month's doesn't justify a $250+ -$2000+ repair
(or both if your mechanic ain't so swift) if it is messing up your driveway/garage floor, park over grass/gravel or put a piece of cardboard down to catch the drips. tell the S.O/Yourself to S.T.F.U and to not be so anal about petty stuff

Be careful with that dye. It can be hard on your kidneys.

What kind of vehicle? It might be cheaper to just replace both and be done with it, rather than spend time and money trying to trace it down.

If money is a concern, you might give Blue Devil Oil Stop Leak a shot, You can get it at any auto parts store, and it's supposed to restore seals with minor damage.

But to answer the original question, I've never used a dye test and don't know any place that does. You might ask at Empire, though, I'm sure they would do it on request.

I have an oil leak (car engine). I have had two mechanics/garages look at it. One said main head gasket. Other said front seal gasket. Neither suggested an oil leak dye test. Does any garage around here do that test? (The dye is put in. Drive car around a day or two. Go back to mechanic. Then he can see where dye comes out to know for sure where leak is). Thanks.
