I feel our weather is stuck in an endless loop; two days sunshine one day precipitation, rinse repeat for past four weeks and currently in the fifth week what with a chance of snow Tuesday.

Small town man, It is a little sad that we have lost a lot of things that were so darn good! Boy would a fresh cake of crackling corn bread taste good.

There was a lady and her family that supplied half our community with all things pig. Sadly when she died the family more or less decided it was too much trouble to keep up the tradition and now the closest I can get to fresh sausage is what I buy from IGA. And as for fresh liver pudding, cracklings and lard I haven't found any yet.
And you're right O D D, biscuits made with lard are the best biscuits anybody could hope to eat.

I doubt that very few people on here know what a fresh cracklin is. It is hog killing time, so stick an ad on the classified. Possibly some of the local butcher shops. Folks just don't render out lard this day and time. It's a shame because when used as a shortening it produces a taste that is second to none.

Law, they have a thread about pigs and hogs and now I'm craving fresh cracklings; anybody know where I can get any?

Between the smoke drifting down from the wildfires in the mountains and the dust from lack of rain my sinuses have been going crazy! Please Lord, send us a slow, steady rain for a day or two.

This mild weather is spoiling us but Lord, if you wouldn't mind, we could use a day or so of a nice soaking rain. My grass is burnt and my trees would appreciate a long, slow drink of water.

I think we've all enjoyed the weather this week, but like most folks I'm not looking forward to the forecast for next week.

I'm waiting for that to happen O. D. D., since my supposed retirement I've been as busy if not busier than I was when I worked full time.
But it's all good, most of what was keeping me so busy is behind me.

It seems like everybody and their cousins had the same idea as me today. With the rain and dreary weather I thought I'd be slick and miss the crowds at the Autumn Leaves Festival this morning. WRONG, I think half the Triad had the same idea as it was as crowded as it would have been on a clear day.

Congrats!! That's awesome!
If things stay on course, I'll be able to retire at 60... maybe a little earlier.
