You tell 'em, SMK. I couldn't have said it better, myself. But you're wasting your time, the "little people" just don't get it. They keep saying, trickle down supply side and "voodoo" economics hasn't worked for them. But, you and I know better, don't we, SMK?

If it is such a good idea to give people with little to no money, low interest rate debt, then why don't any of the liberals on this site open up a revolving debt loan corporation. I would bet you as much money as you lend out that you will be out of business (or needing a government bailout) within a year. It's stupid. It is time you all get something straight. The banks are in it to make money. George Bailey really doesn't exist. He may have made friends but he didn't make any money and without a bailout he would be going to jail. If you want to see lower income (even middle income people) cut off from the banking industry, and many banks collapse then let us allow the government to regulate how much money they can make. Monopolies will grow, the little man will be left out. And B.O. will then have a reason to promote more regulation to compensate for this apparent growing differences between the "two America's" (rich and poor) as he seems to think there already is. B.O. wants the rates lowered so poor people will be willing to go further in debt but ironically this will have the opposite impact and the banks will cut the poor off from credit, banks will loose money, personal bankruptcies and corporate bankruptcies will both increase. Forget about buying a home without being well to do, no one is going to risk giving you that money. Stock holders will suffer (most of us are stock holders; whether you know it our not BAC, WFC, C, V, MC is probably in your 401k or IRA. We will have less money, we will be able to borrow less money and the federal government will have to print more money to hand out to us to "stimulate the economy" by getting you to spend more at the cost of inflation to everyone. Make no mistake the federal government is not doing this to protect the little guy. They are doing this to try and get the little guy to put more on his credit card, but B.O. is wrong about how the banks will respond. They will cut out moderate and high risk credit all together. They will increase fees charged to the retailers which will pass on the fee increases to you in the cost of the consumer goods. Even Walmart will have to charge you that much more. Cost of living will go up and we all will pay one way or the other and then the liberals will say, "let's raise the minimum wage to adjust for inflation" and we begin another cycle.
Simple man I think you already know how I will respond to your comments about legislating financial responsibility verses moral behavior. The only moral behavior I would like to see legislated that is not legislated is abortion. (because I believe it is murder). I am a libertarian otherwise. We already tell people that they will be punished for murder, stealing etc. Apples and oranges. When the government gets involved in business we end up with poorly managed businesses.

If you can't trust republicans and banks and credit card companies, who can you trust?
That's an easy one. I know the answer to that one. 1..Lawyers 2.Used car salesmen 3.Telemarketers. 4. That honest man in Nigeria who is trying to return your deceased uncle's fortune to his family. ==== lol so true... i really don't trust republicans and banks and credit card companies! Banks and Credit card Companies are always trying to find some way to screw you over.

Mr Conservative = why I am no longer a registered republican.
He's a self confessed "rich" republican. Proud of it. Doesn't give a rats *** about anybody but his own self interest. There are far too many of them out there, and I've had a gut full of them. I am now a registered independent, and glad to be free of the republican party. I was active in the local party, and this same attitude drove me off.
So Mr Conservative, cry me a river. I'm so sorry you have chosen to invest in unethical and sleazy corporations that don't care about the people they are supposedly serving. I'm sorry that they have mismanaged their assets into the ground. I'm sorry that you can't see that the very lack of regulation caused this problem. And I'm sorry that you are so rigid in thinking that you can't step back and reevaluate the situation.

DLM28659, when you say "both the Bush boys", are you talking about Jeb and George? If so, google little brother, Neil. He's the biggest crook of 'em all. The repubs kept him out of the limelight for the last 8 or 10 years. He got caught in the S&L scandal and got off with a wrist slap. And, then there was the thing with underaged Asian girls. He's a niceun.

No I think their big execs should take a pay cut or take a hike. I think they should be more careful about checking people out before they give them a card. This hurts the people who do pay their bills and need a little extra help once and a while. My husband is one of the hardest working men I have ever seen. He probly averages about 16-18 hours a day. In our business we are helping people who can not afford to pay full price for appliances. We are just trying to do the right thing then we get punshied for other people not paying their bills.

Yes, I do. I am a republican and a conservative. I think the govt should stay out of how business operates and should deregulate everything. That's the republican way. The CEO's who run the corporations are all honorable people who will look after the consumers best interest.

Someyimes you have to have credit cards, we are self employed and have been for 16 years. We were doing fine without cards until in the last few years. We got one to order parts and supplies with. Well all of a sudden they start raising rates and knocking the limit down to what they have on them at the time. Now we can't use them and we have always paid on time and usely twice the minimum and now they have put us in a situation where we can't use them to order, this is hurting our business along with the greedy banks and rich people (with their bonuses) the small business man is just about to be a thing of the past. We called the card companies they don't want to help you I wonder what they can do if you just don't pay them that way we can just use cash to pay with pay apl. Oh well we are not like that we try to do the right thing.

Here's a scenario:
Your wife has cancer. Your insurance--you''re responsible enough to have insurance--refuses to cover her treatments.
Do you go into credit card debt so that she has a chance to live to see your children grown or do you say, Honey, interest rates are too high. Let's pray you get better and leave it at that.
