If you have a written contract with Clay, I don't see what the problem is...go to your attorney or go yourself to the magistrate...and find out what legal recourse you may have!

If he is so honorable & competent why did he break the closet door & not refund my money ? I had to hire someone to repair his mess !

Actually, reputable businesses always want a deposit up front to try to avoid deadbeat customers that won't pay. But $75? Good lord, t won't answer the phone for $75. A good businessman would want 50%

Contractors and subcontractors have every right to ask for some money up front whether directly or through a third party surety company as they get burned much like the consumers.

As a reference for future. Always be wary of anyone wanting money up front. And get REFERENCES!!!!!!

Clay's Home Repairs gave us an estimate for a small job. He required a $75 deposit for " materials ". While trying to install a new closet door he scratched our floor, hit the wall leaving a mark & broke the door he was trying to install. Incompetent ? He will not respond to our efforts to get our deposit back, not to mention the door he broke. He must be so embarrassed ! He should be ! Has anyone else had any complaints against Clay's Home Repairs ? If not let me be the first . . . .
