John Palmer works there. Andrew Palmer does not to my knowledge nor is he directly related. I could be wrong.

Whatever happened to Andrew's boxing club? Is that still a thing?

No, it only lasted a few months

The JP stayed Andrew works for Main Street Music and Loan. He does not.

Where does he work? And is he related to Mike Palmer?

So business owners making policies about what other businesses can came to town, makes perfect sense. No wonder the town is stuck.

Agreed.

Right now the town is entirely focused on kissing up to Samaritan's Purse (who doesn't pay property tax), so the other businesses are being ignored.

The downtown is virtually dead, and the rent is too high so it's not attractive to new businesses that might help change that.

I would love to hear if any of these candidates have a vision that includes building up 268 and 18, trying to recruit businesses that supplement anchors like Samaritan's Purse or the other businesses along 18. But since 3 of these candidates represent downtown businesses, you can be sure that their main focus will be on the downtown.

Last I heard, there were 5 running for 2 open seats:
Chad Keith George
Thomas Gray "Tiger" Posey
Michael Parsons
Otis Wayne Church
Andrew Palmer

I don't know anything about George, Posey, or Church, so they're going to have to do some work to get their names out.

Michael Parsons has had a business downtown for as long as I can remember, so I know he has roots to the town and would do good at representing everyone. He definitely has my vote.

The others, I just don't know.
Otis is a smart businessman. He is an active Lion's Club member and all around good guy. I think he would make a good commissioner.

Think we need business owners as commissioners. At least they have the best interest of the town. I know Michael Parsons and think he is a good choice. Wonder if anybody else filed after paper was printed. Thought for sure a Goforth would run again but looks like he's pretty busy.

I was surprised to read that the Goforth's had another Hallmark somewhere else. Are those franchises really profitable?

The guy from Michael's Jewelry is a good choice.

Palmer is young and inexperienced, but he's a very smart guy and would be an interesting choice. I don't think he's as business minded as the others, but I don't know if he's as much of a good ol' boy, either. But then again, I used to say the same thing about Debbie Ferguson, and she sure showed me!

I don't know the others.
