I doubt seriously anyone on this site owns or knows anyone else that owns a fully automatic weapon.

i do not own an "automatic" weapon. i do know where there are a couple of "semi-automatic" weapons located close to my premises.

Semi auto means the weapon fires one round with each pull of the trigger. Full auto means the weapon will fire multiple rounds with a single trigger pull. Semi auto weapons are legal to own.

There has not been one incident of any legally owned full auto weapon be used in any crime.

"My problem is with the availability and ease of getting military type automatic assault weapons."

I'd question the "availability" and "ease" that you are referring to. While owning a fully automatic weapon isn't necessarily illegal in the United States, it requires a stringent background check in order to receive the license and is very strictly regulated. The average American can't just walk into a gun shop and say, "I'd like the fully automatic AK47 on the top shelf please" and walk away with the gun. The average law-abiding citizen may be able to walk in and purchase a semi-automatic AR-15 after the basic background check has been completed, but an actual automatic weapon is a different ballgame altogether.

The only way I can see to allow republicans to keep their guns is if they have only one round and it's not chambered.

Muse, have you ever held an automatic weapon in your hands? Have you ever even seen one in person?

Um... Don't put words into MY mouth Crypt. I said nothing of the sort. My hand gun would have stopped someone, if I shot them in the right place and soon enough. You people interpret what we say to fit your own agendas. I am obviously a gun owner who doesn't want my gun or my rights as a gun owner to be taken away or dismissed.

My problem is with the availability and ease of getting military type automatic assault weapons. In the few seconds it would take me to realize there's a person with an AK47 on a rampage, pull out my hand gun, get into a comfortable position to fire at that person without getting shot myself, and actually stop that person in their tracks... many people would have already been shot and killed or wounded. My problem is not with people owning guns. My problem is with automatic assault weapons that would be used in a military war situation, if you're trying to kill an entire herd of deer at the same time, or if you need protection during a zombie apocalypse. Those weapons NO ONE should be able to carry around on their hip or even have in their homes.

This is another example of inexperienced gun nuts. If the best you can do is hit them in the leg you don't need to be carrying a gun. At least in Truthseekers example there was a head shot even if it was the wrong persons head.

Muse, are you saying a handgun couldn't stop someone with a semi-automatic weapon? C'mon man.

Texas good guy with a gun' shoots carjacking victim in head then runs away

Houston police say that an armed man's attempt to stop a carjacking went terribly wrong on Saturday night when he shot the vehicle's owner in the head, then fled the scene.

According to KHOU Channel 11 News, the shooting took place around 11:15 p.m. at a Valero gas station in north Houston.

Police officials say that two men jumped the owner of a Chevrolet pickup truck and absconded with his vehicle.

As the men struggled with the car-owner, a passerby produced a gun and fired multiple shots, missing the thieves but striking the victim in the head.

The shooter quickly gathered up his shell casings from the pavement and fled the scene.

The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently in stable condition.

Police recovered the stolen truck about two miles from where the shooting took place. No suspects have been apprehended in the theft or the shooting.

I think this is great... but a law abiding person with a conceal to carry will not have an ak47 tucked away in his or her pants. As a matter of fact, they won't have any automatic weapon tucked away to help combat some lunatic with his or her own automatic weapon. I am a gun owner with a C2C.It's the automatic weapons that need to be dealt with.

A possible scene with multiple victims, but save by a conceal weapons carrier who used his weapon properly.

Lets see how all the gun haters spin this one.
