Actually it is not just christians who are having to deal with this..any where religion is not suppose to be publically displayed, it goes for ALL regligious beliefs. The only thing about chrisitians that has been stopped is schools praying aloud. But you can still pray at school. Some people think there is a ban on using "christ" in the word christmas..but thats not true either. Its a personal choice. Just because the government cant say it on national tv, doesnt mean it is taking anything away from christians. You can still display it in lights on your home, you can still say it to your friends, in cards etc. You have the freedom of religion and it is not being taken away...the only thing that might even be considered as being taken away is your right to push your religion into the faces of others. And you still have the freedom to do that as well.
I see your point but i wouldnt say freedom of religion is anything that is being taken away. You still have the right to practice your religion, go to church, hand out flyers, carry a bible anywhere you want to, pray any time, have books removed from required reading list, display bible verses on public billboards and signs, etc.

Sorry i know that kinda started a new topic...but it bothers me when people say their freedom of religion is being taken away. Its not. Churches are not being banned, the bible hasnt been banned, and no one can tell you when you can or cannot pray, no one can tell you what to feel in your heart.

What i feel is being taken away is....freedom of speech...yes we have it..but only to a certain extent. Its getting harder and harder for anyone to express their opinions without being bashed, fired, or locked up for it. And the way our government is, our freedom of speech doesnt mean anything because no one list

Sea, your post makes some excellent points.Pink, you make a very good point, too. We are seeing some things like freedom of speech and freedom of religion slip away for Christians. ANYONE else can say or worship any way they choose, but make no mistake, Christians are being singled out by our lawmakers and by the judicial system. How dare anyone call sin, sin? How dare anyone use the name of Jesus in public? You can invoke the name of Mohammed, Buddha, Vishnu, Kali, Confucious or whoever, just not Jesus! So, we have to ask ourselves why the name of Jesus so offends so many? Carefully read the New Testament. The answers are there.

Seadreamer, you are right about one thing, we do have a lot to be thankful for...but one thing a lot of people dont realize or want to admit is that so many of the things we take for granted in our country are slowly slipping away...Thats why most of us think we need a change...We could completely omit the media from our lives..but then when our government screw us over we wouldnt know about it. Yeah they specialize in the bad stuff...someone has to!! Thats how we get our information and most of the time we find out very soon rather its actually true or not. And if its true, we as Americans deserve to know!! If things keep going like they are going now..and no one steps up to make a change....all those good things you speak of will be gone...What will you be thanking god for then?

I dont who wrote this. It was sent to me by a friend on myspace.

The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3s of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change.

So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What we are so unhappy about?''

Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousa nds of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, whil
