The Troopers are not suing because some in their ranks qualify for assistance and have to work secondary jobs. They are suing because when the were recruited and hired they were told that they would get an additional 5% pay increase every year plus what all state employees received as a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), until they reached max pay which is about $60,000.00 a year for a non-ranked trooper. In other words if all state employees got a 2% percent pay raise (COLA) a trooper would get 7%. The state has not honored the extra 5% percent portion for the past several years. The reason not all troopers are part of the class action is because some have enough time in to have already reached max pay. Under the recruitment sales pitch the NCSHP promised new recruits that within 7 years they would be at top pay.

Just what do they do? If you are trying to say they have a dangerous job don't forget that it doesn't even make the top ten. Trash collectors, highway workers, truck drivers, farmers, and loggers just to name a few have a more dangerous job.

But to answer you question no I don't what to get shot but then I don't want to get run over either while working on a road construction job.

Because they are. A trooper should make 6 figures for what they do. Do you want to get shot?
