"Good black conservative men scare the **ell out of Liberals. Allen West, Ben Carson, Elbert Guillory and even that black congressman that spoke out against abortion this week will all be targeted by the Injustice Department. Just imagine their heads exploding if one of them was put on the presidential ticket. I hope black people finally see the injustice of the Liberal Socialists."
Thataways, they can be "good" black people too.

I sense that a little doubt has been injected in here that the navy will prosecute White. Is this what you call playing it down?

The law shouldn't be in place to begin with. It makes our military personnel sitting ducks

"Him firing his weapon has nothing to do with the charges. And I don't think anyone said that, literally.
The article not only indicated the opposite throughout, but it explicitly (and literally) stated that the outrage expressed was in response to a text message that stated, "Ladies and gents, resulting from the text message I received yesterday, I can confirm that the United States Navy is bringing charges against Lt. Cmdr Timothy White for illegally discharging a firearm on federal property."
"The law is only concerning possessing a firearm on a military installation. But no matter what the reason, given this case, I think they need to over look the violation this time."
I can see both sides of this one. On one hand, I agree that the charges should be dropped because this individual's violation resulted in him helping to defend himself and those being attacked. However, I also see the other side of the argument. The laws are in place (ironically enough) to protect. He broke the law and should be held accountable. I would hope that the individual isn't punished for what ultimately equates to defending himself and perhaps others.

This story, if true, demonstrates deep moral rot at the core of our culture.

According to the article above from navytimes.com and as I understand it, the issue being investigated is the individual possessing a weapon on the grounds. The article states...
"it is against Defense Department policy for anyone other than military police or law enforcement to carry weapons on federal property."
The irony is that those raising **** because the military doesn't want random peeps standing outside of their recruitment offices with loaded weapons probably forced the issue, with White being the only person to make an example of. I'm not saying that it is right or fair, but if charges are pressed, I'd imagine that this is probably a contributing factor.
As to charges for firing the weapon, I didn't find anything from what I would consider a reputable source that indicated that any such charges have been files. This isn't to say that such charges haven't been on won't be pursued. I just didn't find anything indicating that West's assertions are true in the short time that I researched the claims.

I suspect that West's information is correct. However, his source is likely a navy insider that can't be named. Now West will stir up enough complaints so that the Navy will stop the prosecution without it ever being publicly confirmed. Good for Lt Cmdr White, bad for West.
Btw, George HW Bush is responsible for signing the the law that banned firearms on military installations.

If this turns out to be untrue, will you right wing knuckleheads finally admit people like Allen West and the rest of the crap stirrers like him are liars and can't be trusted to tell the truth?
